Seven years At The Seven Stars

A BARTENDER is celebrating his seventh year as quiz master in The Seven Stars public house.

Steve Burton, 23, runs the weekly quiz at the Orange Street pub every Tuesday evening, and it is the only quiz in the high street with free entry.

He said: ‘I’m very proud of this landmark but hopefully there’s a lot more than another seven years left in me.’

The quiz has become a big hit with students at Christ Church University who attend because of the ease of access, lack of cost and Steve’s ability to entertain. Luke Robinson, a first year at the university said how ‘because there’s nothing else run on a Tuesday for students, Steve has now made the night his own and would even rival anything in the future that may be arranged.’

Mr Burton's landmark is made even more impressive with his admission that he never uses the internet to create the quiz, but only to check answers that he himself has made up. He even finds time to work full time behind the bar and in the pub kitchen.

With Mr Burton hoping to curate some charity quizzes later in the year, it seems he’ll keep his promise of another seven years. The Seven Stars is located on Orange Street in the High Street and the quiz starts at 9 o’clock on Tuesday evenings.
